Halfway Between

May 1st is the halfway point between spring and summer. The midpoint between the spring equinox and the summer solstice. As we all know, living in the northern regions of North America, spring does not arrive in March, it arrives more like May 1st. The northern climates have celebrated this time for ages with song, dance, flowers and fertility blessings. It is the time to bring things to life, to plant actual seeds and watch them grow. It is the time to put plants into the ground that have already started to sprout, to bring what is planted into the fertile space to grow and bloom. And then we nurture- covering if there is a frost warning, watering, keeping the deer and the rabbits from eating the newly sprouting vegetation and watching.

What in your life did you start planning in March, maybe even planted the seeds? What is starting to grow or needs to be planted now to start nurturing and watching it grow? What is planted or is emerging in you; a subtle shift, a major move, a new project, a developing career or something else? Remember to water this tender new beginning, to nurture it and yourself as you plant it in fertile ground. Before you know it, it will be the height of summer and what you are trying to grow will be in full bloom. Nurture it well.

As part of the nurturing of the seed or nurturing of yourself, consider joining us at our June workshop or a drum circle. The retreat is at the end of September and planting the seed for self nurturing now could bring the harvest of a weekend of authentic restoration in September. We would love to have you join us.
