Molly DePrekel (she, her, hers) is a psychologist in private practice both at the Cairns Psychological Services and Consulting and Hold Your Horses. She provides therapy and consultation for other professionals in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Animal Assisted Interventions. She holds a certification in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, EMDR, and Yoga. She is passionate about bringing authentic restorative practices to others to promote post-traumatic growth, prevent burnout and share the healing power of nature.

Ms. DePrekel received her master’s degree in counseling/psychological services from St. Mary’s University and her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Michigan State University. She is a contributing author to 3 books, “Harnessing the Power of Equine Assisted Counseling: Adding Animal Assisted Therapy to Your Practice,” “Equine Assisted Mental Health Interventions,” and “Clinicians Guide to Treating Companion Animal Issues,” and has co-authored six manuals on AAI.

She is an EPONAQUEST-approved instructor and has taught and facilitated workshops/training worldwide. Currently, she is a committee member for the Horses and Humans Research Foundation and a faculty at the University of Denver’s Institute for Human-Animal Connection in the School of Social Work.

Molly has provided services to tribal members and Rotta Love Rescue. She has participated in Prouty Stretch Galapagos Environmental Service Project and World Team Sports Adventure Challenge.

Besides walking her therapy dogs, Willow and Finnigan, you can often find Molly with her Morgan horse, Whisper.
